Creating an OilTrails Account

To fully take advantage of subscription syncing, location saving, and team management, you first need to create an OilTrails account.

Create an Account In-App

  1. Open the OilTrails app.
  2. Go to Settings > Create Account.
  3. Enter your email and set up a password.
  4. Verify your email (check your inbox for a confirmation link).
  5. Log in to your new OilTrails account.

Create an Account on the Web

  1. Go to oiltrails.ca/signup.
  2. Select Create Account and follow the prompts.

Once your account is set up, you can sync your subscription, saved locations, and access OilTrails Business features.

Linking Your Subscription to Your OilTrails Account

Your OilTrails subscription is tied to your app store account (Google Play or Apple App Store), but it needs to be linked to your OilTrails account to work across multiple devices or when switching between Android and iOS.

Scenario 1: Switching from Android to iPhone

If you purchased an OilTrails subscription on your Android device but now want to use it on iOS, follow these steps:

1. Confirm Your Subscription on Android

  • Open the Google Play Store.
  • Tap your profile icon (top right).
  • Go to Payments & Subscriptions > Subscriptions.
  • If OilTrails is listed as active, you’re good to go.
  • Open the OilTrails app on your Android device.
  • Go to Settings and log into the same OilTrails account you created on your iPhone.
  • This step will tie your Google Play subscription to your OilTrails account.

3. Log In on iPhone

  • Open the OilTrails app on your iPhone.
  • When prompted, log in with your OilTrails account.
  • Your subscription should now sync and be recognized.

Scenario 2: Switching from iPhone to Android

If you purchased an OilTrails subscription on iOS (Apple App Store) and now want to use it on Android, follow these steps:

1. Confirm Your Subscription on iPhone

  • Open the Device Settings.
  • Tap your profile icon (top item).
  • Go to Subscriptions and check if OilTrails is listed as active.
  • Open the OilTrails app on your iPhone.
  • Go to Settings and log into your OilTrails account.
  • This will attach your App Store subscription to your OilTrails account.

3. Log In on Android

  • Open the OilTrails app on your Android device.
  • Log in using your OilTrails account (the same one from your iPhone).
  • Your subscription should now be recognized on Android.

💡 Note: If your subscription does not sync after following these steps, try restoring purchases in the app settings, or contact OilTrails Support.

Syncing Locations Across Devices

One of the biggest advantages of an OilTrails account is location syncing. When logged in, your saved locations are automatically backed up and available across all devices.

🔹 Saved locations include:

  • Lease sites
  • Custom pins
  • Location details

If you’ve saved locations on one device but don’t see them on another:

  1. Ensure you’re logged into the same OilTrails account on both devices.
  2. Check your internet connection (syncing requires connectivity).
  3. Refresh your saved locations by logging out and back in.
