When another driver takes over a regular run, the handoff should include the locations they need. Searching through old messages for each LSD or rebuilding a list of wellsites takes time before the truck even leaves the yard.

Our latest feature, Location Collections, lets you keep related destinations together in OilTrails on iOS, Android, and web. Save the locations once, group them around the work, and return to them when the next job comes in.

Create a collection for a customer’s sites, a drilling program, or the stops on a recurring run. Give it a name your crew will recognize, then choose a colour and icon to make it easy to identify in your collection list and on the map.

For a shared inspection program, a dispatcher could build the collection and invite the people assigned to the work. Each person has a defined role:

  • Owner: Manages the collection, its locations, and invitations.
  • Editor: Adds, updates, and removes collection locations.
  • Viewer: Views and uses the locations without changing them.

The person who creates the collection is its owner. Owners with OilTrails Pro can invite other OilTrails users as editors or viewers. Collections are available with Standard and Pro, and users on either plan can accept invitations.

A legal land description identifies the location, but it may not be the name people use over the phone. Owners and editors can add a secondary name, such as a familiar lease name or customer reference, while keeping the full legal land description. The crew can recognize the destination without losing the details needed to identify it.

When it’s time to prepare a route, select collection locations as waypoints directly in OilTrails. There’s no need to type each destination again. You can also display the collection’s locations together on the map to review the sites involved in the job.

On iOS and Android, recently loaded collections and their saved locations remain available from a local cache when cell service is weak or unavailable. Open the collection while connected so the information you need has loaded. Receiving updates, managing invitations, and synchronizing changes still require a connection. Signing out clears the cached collection information.

The mobile History on Launch setting also lets you choose between Recents and Last Used, so location history can open with your recently accessed locations or return to the view you used previously.

Start with the locations you need for your next repeat job. Create a collection, name it for the work, and share it with the people who need those destinations.
